British Airways to offer free high-speed Wi-Fi for all passengers in major boost for business travel

British Airways has announced a major agreement with Starlink to deliver free, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi across all cabins - a significant enhancement for business travel.

This development will directly benefit UK-based business travellers because maintaining reliable connectivity in the air is essential for staying productive, collaborating globally and responding swiftly to opportunities while flying. As such, the upgrade aligns squarely with optimising business travel operations and experience.

British Airways will begin rolling out the Starlink system in 2026; once fully fitted, all customers - whichever cabin they’re travelling in - will have complimentary access to high-speed, low-lag internet that enables streaming, video-calls, multiple devices and work continuity. The airline emphasises that Starlink uses a low-Earth orbit satellite constellation enabling faster, more reliable broadband even over oceans and remote regions.

Sean Doyle, Chief Executive of British Airways, said:

“We’re continuing to focus on transforming our customer experience. Launching Starlink on both our long-haul and short-haul aircraft is game-changing for us and our customers, elevating their experience on board our flights by offering them seamless connectivity from gate-to-gate. Especially on short-haul, this will really differentiate us from our competitors.”

Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, commented:

“For business travellers based in the UK this is a welcome advancement - uninterrupted connectivity means you can use flight time as productive time, stay in touch with teams, access documents and collaborate as though you were still in the office. This kind of Wi-Fi enhancement transforms the flight into part of the work environment, not a break from it.”

British Airways notes that so far in 2025, 81% of flights have departed within 15 minutes of their scheduled departure time, demonstrating its broader drive to improve performance and customer experience. The rollout will cover all BA mainline and Euroflyer flights.

Business travellers should therefore expect future flights on British Airways to offer enhanced onboard connectivity - a key enabler for remote working, streaming presentations, joining video-meetings or simply staying connected while travelling internationally.
