American Airlines unveils centennial inflight menu to enhance premium business travel

As American Airlines marks its 100th anniversary in 2026, the airline has introduced a limited-time centennial-inspired inflight menu drawing on 1920s flavours and culinary trends for passengers travelling in premium cabins on international, transcontinental and domestic routes.

This new menu will be of particular interest to UK-based business travellers who frequently fly long-haul or premium transatlantic routes, with the opportunity to enjoy elevated dining experiences on flights to and from the United States that go beyond standard business travel catering expectations.

Rhonda Crawford, American’s Senior Vice President of Customer Experience Design and Strategy, said

“Our centennial year is a chance to reflect on how far we’ve come while continuing to elevate the experience for our customers. These menus celebrate the flavours that defined the early days of American Airlines in a way that feels special and memorable for today’s travelers.”

Passengers will be able to preorder the celebratory dishes ahead of their flights from 9 February. The menus are set to debut in March on international and transcontinental Flagship First and Flagship Business cabins, followed by an April launch in domestic First Class.

The domestic First Class menu will reinterpret beloved 1920s classics, with options including a crisp Waldorf salad, Boursin cream cheese dip available on domestic long-haul routes, Beef Wellington with roasted vegetables and asparagus finished with béarnaise sauce, and a pecan tart for dessert.

In international Business Class and transcontinental Business Class, the menu will be inspired by the sophistication of 1920s hotel dining, with a classic prawn cocktail and Waldorf salad to start. In April - American’s official centennial month - these will be further elevated with caviar, blinis and a devilled egg finished with crème fraîche. Entrée selections will include Beef Wellington with béarnaise sauce and roasted vegetables, and Chicken Florentine roulade served with mashed potatoes and mushroom sauce.

To reflect the benefit of these enhanced onboard offerings for business travel, Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said:

“For UK business travellers flying premium routes, experiencing a thoughtfully designed inflight menu such as this not only brings a touch of heritage and sophistication to the journey but also underscores the growing importance of quality service and catering in modern business travel.”

These centennial-inspired menus will be available through August 2026 as part of a broader series of anniversary initiatives by American Airlines, including a special centennial aircraft livery, a new centennial logo rollout and commemorative experiences both online and onboard.
