Virgin Atlantic accelerates Starlink Wi-Fi rollout to transform business travel connectivity
Virgin Atlantic has announced it is accelerating the rollout of Starlink Wi-Fi, bringing forward plans to introduce free, high-speed connectivity across its entire fleet from as early as May 2026.
For UK-based business travellers, this development is particularly significant as it promises reliable, fast onboard internet from take-off to landing, enabling uninterrupted productivity, communication and access to cloud-based tools on long-haul flights where connectivity has traditionally been inconsistent or unavailable.
The airline confirmed that its first Starlink-equipped aircraft, an Airbus A350, is expected to enter service in early May 2026, operating initially between London Heathrow and New York JFK, with the A350 fleet fully connected by early summer before the rollout extends to Boeing 787 and Airbus A330neo aircraft.
Virgin Atlantic stated that the accelerated programme will ultimately deliver full fleet-wide connectivity by 2027, with the service offered free of charge to Flying Club members as part of a broader strategy to create a “home away from home” digital experience in the air.
The airline also highlighted that Starlink’s low Earth orbit satellite network enables high-speed, low-latency internet access globally, including over remote regions, supporting streaming, video calls and real-time collaboration at a level comparable to ground-based connections.
A spokesperson for Virgin Atlantic said
“Together with Starlink, we’re setting a new standard for connectivity in the skies, with fast, free, high-speed Wi-Fi available from the moment customers step onboard.”
This rollout builds on Virgin Atlantic’s wider investment in customer experience and modernisation, with one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets in the skies and a continued transition towards next-generation aircraft by 2028.
Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said
“For UK business travellers, consistent and high-quality connectivity in the air is no longer a luxury, it is essential. Virgin Atlantic’s accelerated Starlink rollout means our clients can remain productive, responsive and fully connected throughout their journey, which is a major step forward for business travel efficiency and traveller wellbeing.”
As more airlines invest in advanced onboard connectivity, this move positions Virgin Atlantic competitively within the UK market, particularly on key transatlantic routes where business travellers demand seamless digital access throughout their journey.
Business travellers can expect a phased introduction of the service across the fleet, with installation progressing throughout 2026 and 2027 as part of the airline’s commitment to delivering a consistently connected onboard experience.
