New luxury Canary Wharf hotel expands options for business travel in London

IHG Hotels & Resorts is bringing its luxury Vignette Collection brand to London for the first time through the signing of Canary Riverside Plaza in Canary Wharf, a landmark development scheduled to open in summer 2026.

This is significant news for UK business travel professionals and frequent business travellers, as the new property will add a high-end accommodation option in one of London's most important financial districts. With strong transport connections across the capital and easy access to international gateways, the hotel is expected to appeal to travellers attending meetings, conferences and events in Canary Wharf and the wider City of London.

Developed in partnership with Yianis Group, Canary Riverside Plaza, Vignette Collection by IHG will be the brand's first hotel in London and only its second property in the UK and Ireland. The signing also marks IHG's debut in Canary Wharf, one of the capital's most established business districts.

When it opens, the hotel will feature 142 guestrooms and suites overlooking the River Thames and the City skyline. Facilities will include a restaurant and bar, flexible meeting and event space for up to 200 guests, and access to an adjacent health club and spa. The location places guests in the heart of a district that continues to evolve as both a commercial and lifestyle destination.

Willemijn Geels, Vice President, Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:

"We're proud to be deepening our partnership with Yianis Group – a key contributor to the growth of our Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in the UK&I. Building on our signing of InterContinental Manchester, together we have a shared commitment to bring distinctive hotels to key locations and we are creating a strong pipeline of high-quality developments. This latest project not only highlights IHG's exciting growth of its Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio in the UK's capital, but it also showcases the importance of this partnership.

With Vignette Collection, we're able to work with exceptional properties that retain their individuality and distinct style while benefiting from IHG's global scale and enterprise platform, and London is a natural next step for the brand as we continue to expand in key gateway cities."

John Christodoulou, Chairman of Yianis Group, said:

"We are proud to be introducing Vignette Collection to London with Canary Riverside Plaza. The brand's focus on individuality and character strongly aligns with our vision for the hotel, and we were particularly drawn to its ability to celebrate the unique identity of each property while benefiting from the strength of a global brand. Canary Wharf provides a dynamic and well-established setting for this development, and we are excited to be creating a landmark destination within this important part of the city. We look forward to continuing our partnership with IHG Hotels & Resorts and delivering a distinctive experience for guests."

Vignette Collection was launched by IHG in 2021 as a luxury conversion brand that brings together distinctive hotels while allowing them to retain their individual character and identity. The brand has expanded rapidly, reaching more than halfway towards its goal of 100 hotels within ten years, with 34 hotels already open and a further 45 in the development pipeline globally. Across Europe, the collection currently has six hotels open and 17 more in development.

The new London property further strengthens IHG's position in the UK and Ireland, where the group currently operates 384 hotels and has a further 28 properties in development. The project also reflects the growing importance of hotel conversions within the hospitality sector, allowing established properties to benefit from the reach and resources of major global brands while maintaining their unique appeal.

Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said:

"The addition of a luxury Vignette Collection property in Canary Wharf is welcome news for business travel buyers and corporate travellers. London remains one of the world's most important business destinations, and increased hotel choice in a key commercial district gives organisations greater flexibility when balancing traveller experience, location and budget requirements. The hotel's meeting facilities, connectivity and proximity to major financial institutions are likely to make it particularly attractive for companies with regular business travel programmes."
