Lufthansa enhances long-haul business travel with Allegris 787-9 rollout
Lufthansa has announced that from 15 April 2026, 25 of the 28 seats in its new Allegris Business Class cabin on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will be available for booking, marking a significant expansion of its upgraded long-haul business travel offering from Frankfurt.
For UK-based business travellers connecting via Frankfurt to long-haul destinations, this development strengthens premium business travel options to key global markets, offering greater choice, enhanced comfort and improved onboard productivity on routes to North America, South America, Africa and Asia.
The introduction of Allegris Business Class on the Boeing 787-9 follows more than a year of successful operations with the new cabin on Lufthansa’s Airbus A350-900 fleet. After reaching further milestones in the regulatory certification process, the majority of Business Class seats on the Dreamliner are now cleared for sale, with only three seats in the second row still awaiting final approval.
Passengers can select from a range of seat types within the Allegris Business Class cabin. Alongside the Classic seats, which offer the full benefits of the new product at no additional charge, travellers can opt for tailored upgrades including the Business Class Suite, Extra Space seats with additional legroom, Privacy Seats by the window and Extra Long Bed seats featuring a 2.20-metre lying surface designed to maximise rest on extended business travel journeys.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft equipped with the new Allegris Business Class seats will operate from Frankfurt to destinations including Austin, Rio de Janeiro, Bogotá, Cape Town, Shanghai, Hyderabad and Hong Kong. Under the summer schedule, New York JFK and Los Angeles will be added in June, followed by Delhi in July, further expanding premium business travel connectivity between Europe and major global commercial centres.
Jens Ritter, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Airlines, said “Our guests love Allegris. More than one million passengers have travelled in the new cabin since summer 2024. We are delighted to be able to offer significantly more passengers this top-of-the-range product for bookings from Frankfurt starting today. Allegris is an experience in all classes; the approval of the majority of seats in Business Class on the Boeing 787-9 is an important milestone for Lufthansa – and above all, great news for our customers.”
Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said
