Leeds Bradford Airport unveils new terminal to enhance business travel experience

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has officially opened its new terminal, marking the completion of the first phase of a £100 million expansion project aimed at enhancing passenger experience and regional connectivity.

This development is particularly significant for Global Travel Management’s UK-based business travellers, who frequently rely on efficient and comfortable airport facilities to streamline their business travel schedules.

The upgraded terminal offers a modernised arrivals process, including a new baggage reclaim area and advanced passport control technologies, ensuring quicker and smoother journeys. With an 83% increase in seating, passengers can enjoy greater comfort and uninterrupted runway views, while an expanded food and drink offering caters to diverse preferences.

The introduction of the Six Eight One Premium Lounge provides a stylish, relaxing space with seasonal menus featuring locally sourced produce, ideal for business travellers seeking a productive pre-flight environment.

Vincent Hodder, CEO of Leeds Bradford Airport, said:

“We are delighted to see our new terminal extension open and operational today. It has been an incredible journey to get here and we know our customers are going to get a completely new experience from LBA from today. It’s an exciting time for us too; for our employees, stakeholders and business partners, the opening of this building is a huge achievement for all involved.”

John Cunliffe, Commercial Director of Leeds Bradford Airport, added:

“Today is a huge milestone for Leeds Bradford Airport. Our new terminal is officially open and ready to welcome passengers, offering improved facilities and enabling us to deliver an enhanced experience for passengers in the region. As we transition into Phase 2 of the project, the changes will impact the usual passenger flows, and we’d like to thank passengers in advance for their understanding.”

Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, commented:

“The new terminal at Leeds Bradford Airport is a game-changer for our UK-based business travellers, offering enhanced efficiency and comfort that align perfectly with the needs of those travelling for work, ensuring they arrive refreshed and ready for their business engagements.”

As Phase 2 of the LBA:REGEN project begins, focusing on refurbishing the existing terminal, passengers may encounter temporary changes, including hoardings, a relocated Meet & Greet parking area, and adjusted bus zones. By the project’s completion in 2026, LBA will boast 38% more floorspace, 76% more retail space, 83% more seating, 77% increased luggage reclaim capacity, and 50% more security lanes. A dedicated webpage on the LBA website will provide ongoing updates throughout Phase 2.
