New partnership transforms business travel with urban air mobility
A pioneering partnership between SITA and Urban-Air Port Ltd (UAP) is set to transform business travel by integrating modular vertiport infrastructure with advanced digital platforms to deliver sustainable urban air mobility (UAM) for UK-based business travellers.
This collaboration will benefit Global Travel Management’s customers by offering time-efficient, low-carbon regional travel through electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles (eVTOLs), ideal for professionals navigating busy urban centres.
The partnership creates the world’s first Software-Defined Vertiport, “AirOne,” combining UAP’s compact vertiport technology with SITA’s aviation expertise to enhance the passenger experience.
UAP’s “Vertical Airfield” technology, 80% smaller than traditional airfields, supports safe, quiet VTOL operations with scalable designs and integrated energy storage. SITA’s passenger processing and real-time data management ensure seamless connectivity with existing transport networks. The cloud-based Vertiport Management System (VMS) orchestrates operations like passenger flow and security, enabling scalable urban deployments.
Benoit Verbaere, Director of Business Development for Travel & Transport at SITA explained, “Urban Air Mobility holds vast potential to shape the future of travel, but it must scale rapidly, safely, and intelligently.”
Andrea Wu, CEO of Urban-Air Port, added:
“This isn’t just about new infrastructure, it’s about delivering a fully-connected experience for passengers, VTOL and transport operators.”
Paul Baker, Sales Director at Global Travel Management, said:
“This innovation offers UK business travellers faster, greener regional travel, aligning with corporate efficiency and sustainability goals.” The “AirOne” vertiport supports cleaner, connected transport hubs, reducing congestion and environmental impact.
