London surpasses 2,000 zero-emission buses in major green milestone

London has achieved a significant environmental milestone, with over 2,000 zero-emission buses now operating across the capital, making it home to the largest fleet of its kind in Western Europe.

This development is particularly beneficial for UK-based business travellers, as it enhances the sustainability and efficiency of public transport options in London, a key hub for national and international business activities. The expansion of the zero-emission bus fleet contributes to cleaner air and reduced carbon emissions, aligning with corporate sustainability goals and offering a more pleasant travel experience.

Since 2016, London's zero-emission bus network has grown from just 30 vehicles to over 2,000, now comprising more than 20% of the city's entire bus fleet. Transport for London (TfL) aims to transition the entire bus fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2030, a move expected to save an estimated five million tonnes of carbon over the next two decades. This initiative not only addresses the pressing issue of air pollution but also supports the UK's green economy, with TfL's investment fostering approximately 3,000 jobs in green technology and manufacturing across the country.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, stated: "It's fantastic London is leading the charge with more than 2,000 zero-emission buses in the capital, the largest zero-emission bus fleet in Western Europe."

Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, commented: "The expansion of London's zero-emission bus fleet is a significant advancement for our business travel clients. It not only demonstrates the city's commitment to sustainability but also provides our travellers with cleaner, quieter, and more reliable transport options, enhancing their overall travel experience."
