Global Travel Management to plant trees for every England and Scotland goal at the World Cup

Global Travel Management will plant trees in its GTM Forest for every goal scored by England and Scotland during this summer's FIFA World Cup, linking support for the home nations with the company's ongoing commitment to sustainability.

For business travellers, the tournament also highlights the enormous logistical challenges involved in moving teams, officials and supporters around one of the largest sporting events ever staged. Taking place across Mexico, Canada and the United States, the FIFA World Cup will feature 104 matches in 16 host cities, with participants and fans travelling thousands of miles between fixtures.

The scale of the tournament is unprecedented. Canada, one of the host nations, plays its opening match in Toronto before travelling 2,018 miles to Vancouver for its second fixture under a week later. With billions of viewers expected to tune in worldwide, the competition is widely expected to become the most-watched sporting event in history.

To mark the occasion, Global Travel Management is once again sponsoring goals scored by the home nations competing in the tournament. For every goal scored by England, the company will plant a tree in the GTM Forest as part of the GTM Carbon Offset Programme and wider commitment to reducing the environmental impact of travel.

Scotland's goals will have an even greater impact. Recognising that Scotland has less World Cup experience than England, Global Travel Management has pledged to plant five trees for every Scottish goal scored during the tournament.

Scott Pawley, Managing Director of Global Travel Management, said:

"The World Cup brings together nations from across the globe and showcases travel on a truly remarkable scale. We wanted to mark the tournament in a way that allows us to support the home nations while also making a positive contribution through our GTM Carbon Offset Programme. Every England goal will add another tree to the GTM Forest, while every Scotland goal will add five, giving us even more reason to cheer on both teams throughout the competition."

England begin their World Cup campaign next Wednesday against Croatia, while Scotland's opening fixture takes place in the early hours of Sunday morning. Global Travel Management will be tracking every goal and adding trees to the GTM Forest throughout the tournament.

The World Cup showcases the power of international travel to bring people, cultures and communities together, and Global Travel Management looks forward to celebrating every goal scored by the home nations.
