Flavours by SAS brings international cuisine to European Business Class
Scandinavian Airlines is introducing Flavors by SAS, a new food and beverage concept launching on 1 October 2025, which will offer a broader, globally inspired culinary experience to passengers starting with the new European Business Class before expanding to lounges and intercontinental routes.
This update is especially relevant for UK-based business travellers flying with SAS, as it promises a more refined, varied and sustainable onboard dining experience—enhancing comfort and satisfaction during flights across Europe and beyond.
Building on the airline's New Nordic by SAS programme launched in 2017, Flavors by SAS represents a natural evolution: shifting from a Scandinavian-focused offering to a more international approach. The new concept incorporates bold, globally influenced flavours from across Europe, the United States, Asia, the Middle East and the Mediterranean, reflecting the changing expectations of SAS’s business and leisure travellers alike.
Aron Backström, Vice President Product & Loyalty at SAS, explained: “While SAS has always been about bringing Scandinavia to the world, this new concept, Flavors by SAS, brings the world to Scandinavia, incorporating bold and diverse flavors inspired by Europe, the U.S., Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.”
Key elements of the new programme include:
Globally inspired menus featuring rotating dishes to ensure variety for frequent travellers.
Tiered service levels based on route length, ranging from simple baskets to full hot and cold tray meals.
Flexible, modular dining, allowing crew to adjust meals depending on time of day, aircraft and flight profile.
Improved Business Class presentation, with porcelain tableware, double-walled mugs, glassware and stainless-steel cutlery replacing disposables.
Sustainability measures, such as reducing plastic use and food waste, and prioritising local sourcing and recyclable materials.
Further reinforcing the shift, SAS is adopting a rolling menu system—ensuring passengers won’t repeatedly encounter the same meal options, a welcome improvement for regular business flyers.
Backström added: “SAS’ innovative dining approach and rotating menu system sets a new standard in inflight dining, providing a flexible, customer-centric alternative to traditional static menus. This dynamic model positions SAS at the forefront in innovation and adaptability within airline food and beverage service.”
Commenting on the announcement, Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said: “Our clients flying with SAS can expect a fresher, more enjoyable and more sustainable inflight dining experience—particularly important for busy business travellers who value comfort, variety and consistency in service.”
