American Airlines expands football flight schedule and launches new premium amenity kits for business travel

American Airlines is introducing limited-edition “U.S. Soccer” amenity kits and expanding its largest-ever football flight schedule as North America prepares to host FIFA World Cup 2026.

For UK-based business travel customers, the news is relevant because it highlights both enhanced premium cabin comfort and increased transatlantic and US domestic demand around major sporting events, which could affect availability, fares and journey planning.

The new amenity kits will debut at the beginning of June and fly through July. American is the Official North American Airline Supplier of FIFA World Cup 26™ in partnership with Qatar Airways and the Official Airline of U.S. Soccer.

Flagship® First and Flagship Suite® Preferred seat customers will receive a clear bag with blue leather piping and a removable crossbody strap, while Flagship® Business and Flagship Suite® customers will receive a clear bag with leather piping detail that can be worn as a belt bag or crossbody. Premium Economy customers will receive a clear pouch with a removable wrist strap.

American’s Chief Marketing Officer Caroline Clayton said “these amenity kits will help build excitement and passion for the tournament”.

The kits include travel-ready skincare essentials, including hand and body lotion, lip balm, after-sun cooling gel and soccer-style socks in selected premium cabins.

The airline has also announced its largest-ever football schedule for fans, with more than 23,000 additional seats across more than 80 routes for the upcoming season. American says its fall schedule includes more than 4,500 peak daily flights from the hometown airports of professional football teams.

American’s Managing Director of Global Network Planning Jason Reisinger said “2026 is shaping up to be a standout year for sports fans”.

Internationally, American and its partners are preparing for additional sports-related demand, including services linked to London, Paris, Madrid, Munich, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro and Melbourne. American says it is the largest US airline serving London and, together with British Airways, customers can book travel on up to 70 peak daily flights from 27 destinations nationwide.

Paul Baker, Sales Director of Global Travel Management, said “Major sporting events can have a significant impact on business travel, particularly on transatlantic routes and key US domestic connections. For UK-based business travellers, early planning is essential, not only to secure the best fares and schedules, but also to make sure trips remain productive, comfortable and cost-effective during periods of high demand.”

American Airlines operates more than 6,000 daily flights to more than 350 destinations in more than 60 countries and serves more than 200 million customers annually. The airline is celebrating its centennial year in 2026 and is a founding member of the oneworld alliance, whose members serve more than 900 destinations around the globe.
